Serena was born in York, United Kingdom to a Finnish mother and English father. She lived in several places growing up, before her family settled in East Surrey, just South of London. Her biggest passions were horseriding and reading.  She still reads a lot, and rides horses whenever she gets the opportunity.

Serena wanted to act from a young age, but was too shy as a child to get anything but background roles in school plays. Her drama teacher at Oxted County School in Surrey brought her confidence out and she chose to do Drama as one of her GCSE subjects, gaining an A grade overall. She still didn't perceive it to be a realistic career option in her life though, and eventually applied to do a Forensic Science degree course at university. Her family moved to Sweden during her gap year and she took a short course in English Drama at Växjö University while living there, which she excelled at. She also learnt basic Swedish language in order to get by in the country.

She returned to England in 2004 for university where she studied towards, but did not complete, a BSc in Applied Science and Forensic Investigation at Teesside University, Middlesbrough. The next five years were a whirlwind of jobs for Serena as she tried to find the right one for her, including event co-ordinator, record store assistant, bartender, hotel maid, and she moved several times between Middlesbrough, York and Manchester. In 2009 she and her partner found out that they were expecting a baby and Serena put everything else aside to bring up her son.

When her son began full time school, she looked into working again and began volunteering at a local charity as an admin assistant and social media manager, which she found very rewarding. She continues to volunteer for local organisations whenever possible. In her spare time she loves to cosplay at comic con and sci-fi events. Doing this led to her signing up to an extras agency on a whim, and she got her first job in May 2016 on the BBC drama 'In The Dark', starring Myanna Buring and Ben Batt. Serena helped organise a comic con in 2017, running their social media and cosplay section. Since January 2018, she has been a regular supporting artist on ITV's 'Emmerdale' In mid 2018 she joined the team at InkBlot Films, an independent film and media company in Yorkshire, taking charge of their social media. She continues to work for them, in between acting roles and  Emmerdale.

Serena hopes to specialise in voice acting, and her dream is to voice characters in a role playing video game some day.
